Renewing your license for the first time soon? Or do you have agents in their first renewal cycle?
Effective Oct. 1, sales agents renewing their license for the first time are required to complete an approved, 30-hour real estate brokerage course as a part of the 90 hours of SAE. The Texas Real Estate Commission made this change to the renewal requirement during its May meeting.
The Texas REALTORS® GRI: Real Estate Brokerage class qualifies for this requirement. View the GRI course schedule here.
You can also see TREC’s qualifying real estate course list.
I am glad to see this change. It concerns me that I get on opposite side of transactions with agents who seem to know way to little to be doing this job! I take my license requirements seriously but feel that many newer agents do not.
Yep Laura… Signs of carelessness and incompetence all over the MLS also. Scary business. Practices that hurt the functionality of the Marketplace also. It make me wonder if the Brokers are ever looking at their Agent’s Listings to make sure that all-is-as-it-should-be.
Well some good advise, but maybe you should learn the difference between “to” and “Too” before you start chunking rocks at your fellow Realtors.
And advice vs advise, John.
***chucking rocks, not chunking rocks
Lol!! I noticed that as well.
Well said John !
Furthermore I have worked with few new agent in this business & I found them smart, articulate, savvy & eager to learn .
I believe some other fellow Realtors like to chucking rocks at the newcomers from stand point of envy & jealousy .
There is enough business for everyone!
God bless America 🇺🇸!
Not chunking rocks John, just for awareness, the word should be “advice” instead of “advise”…
The last two transactions I’ve completed had error upon error and strictly due to ignorance of the law! I even brought up the inaccuracies in their MLS listing-they had no idea!
Yes title companies have expressed frustration they feel they’re having to train new agents just to get thru a transaction
Would be nice if title gave a little break in price to the experienced loyal agents…. just sayin…. Intentional slang here but so glad some of you are calling out the basic English grammar errors. It is getting so bad.
While reducing requirements of the educators .?
I just makes sence to add more hours of education to make up for the precieved lack of it.
Just saying for a friend.
I think you meant sense and perceived
highly recommend “mentorship” as part of education/added experience to be incorporated with the broker/supervisor in charge.
Too many absent Brokers and agents are of course going to flock to the high splits with just a transaction fee to pay. They get NO training anymore.
That is a great suggestion. I shadowed a seasoned agent at her open houses for several months when I first received my license.
With all due respect to all of you, you have been in the business a very long time and as a new agent, there are so many things to be aware of and unfortunately, the pre-licensing courses just don’t really set one up to succeed in this business. I was smart enough to invest in the GRI so that I would be better set up in the field, but many don’t have the time or resources available to do it. Why not next time offer some guidance to these “incompetent” and “careless” agents? I can almost guarantee whatever mistake they… Read more »
